Why PlanToys Are SafeUpdated 5 months ago

General Safety Information

PlanToys is a family and artisan-run company, driven by a deep concern for the well-being of not only their own children but children worldwide. Our unwavering passion lies in crafting safe, sustainable products that offer enjoyment and education for children as they embark on their journey of growth and development.

  • We are proud to say that there are no harmful additives used in our production, and all products comply with rigorous safety standards worldwideSince 1982, all PlanToys products have exceeded international safety standards — including ASTM (USA) and EN71 (Europe) — to ensure that our toys are safe for children worldwide.
  • We are Prop 65 compliant, although this is not noted on our packaging since we only use natural materials. PlanToys do not contain any phthalates as we use less than 10% of plastic in production.
  • We're open about our manufacturing process and share test reports with the public which can be downloaded from each PlanToys' product page on our website.

Wood

  • Thailand is the largest exporter of rubber, using rubber trees to produce latex. When the trees are dry of latex, they are no longer a valued resource and are in danger of being burned down. PlanToys saves rubber trees from destruction and transforms them into toys to be part of children's lives for many generations.
  • Fertilizer is no longer added to the soil three years before the trees are removed and transported to the PlanToys factory. This timeframe helps cleanse the wood of any chemicals.
  • We enhance the wood's durability and eliminate moisture content with a process known as kiln-drying.
  • We upcycle our sawdust through an innovative process to reduce waste. The final result is known as PlanWood. You can learn more about PlanWood by clicking here.

Paint & Lacquer

  • All color is applied with water-based dyes and all-natural pigments. The organic pigments used are derived from trees, plants, flowers, and minerals.
  • Since the paint is water-based, it will likely fade if a child chews on the surface or if it is cleaned rigorously. PlanToys should only be cleaned with a semi-damp cloth. Please do not use any chemical-based cleaners on your PlanToys.
  • We apply a water-based lacquer to all PlanToys, safeguarding the wood's surface and ensuring it is child-safe.

Glue

  • We use a non-formaldehyde adhesive known as E-Zero.
  • Sometimes, small areas of glue can be visible on PlanToys. This is the result of handcrafted toys and is completely safe for children.

Other Materials

  • PlanToys uses natural rubber and chemical-free fabrics locally sourced in Thailand.

Please note that although our products are safe for children, it's important that adults follow the age guidelines for all PlanToys and supervise children during play, especially when smaller parts are involved.

If a toy suffers accidental damage resulting in splintering or sharp edges, please consider bringing it to a trusted repair center or seek expert advice for repairing it. If repairing the toy is not an option, it should no longer be played with.
